Four in Custody Over Alleged ₦49m Company Burglary in Calabar

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with an alleged burglary at a company in Calabar, Cross River State.

The reported incident involved losses estimated at about ₦49 million, prompting police authorities to begin an investigation.

The arrests are part of efforts by law enforcement officers to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those allegedly responsible.

Investigators are expected to examine the evidence surrounding the reported burglary, including the manner in which the premises were allegedly accessed and the property said to have been taken.

The identities and individual roles of the suspects are matters for the ongoing investigation.

At this stage, the four people arrested remain suspects and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in accordance with the law.

The case comes against the background of police operations targeting alleged burglary networks in Cross River.

In June, the Cross River State Police Command said it had arrested four suspected members of a burglary and stealing syndicate operating in Calabar and recovered numerous items believed to have been stolen.

The command said that earlier operation followed intelligence and sustained surveillance, illustrating the role of information gathering in investigations into property crimes.

The latest case is expected to undergo a similar investigative process as police work to establish the facts.

A reported loss of ₦49 million makes the case particularly significant for the affected business and highlights the financial consequences that commercial burglary can create.

Investigators may also seek to determine whether the alleged incident involved additional people who have not yet been arrested.

Any property recovered during the investigation would also have to be properly identified and linked to the reported incident before it can be returned to its rightful owner.
