Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has reappointed the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff and Chief Press Secretary, retaining three senior officials who served in his first administration as he begins a second term in office.
The reappointments cover Professor Habibat Adubiaro as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Oyeniyi Adebayo as Chief of Staff and Olayinka Oyebode as Chief Press Secretary.
The announcement, made on Friday, October 16, marks an early decision by the governor following his inauguration for another four-year term, with his immediate administrative team remaining unchanged.
The three officials held the same positions during Oyebanji’s first tenure, which began in 2022. Their return keeps experienced hands in offices responsible for coordinating government activities, managing the governor’s administrative operations and communicating official policies to the public.
As Secretary to the State Government, Adubiaro occupies a central position in the coordination of government business, including the implementation of executive decisions and liaison with ministries, departments and agencies.
Adebayo, as Chief of Staff, oversees key aspects of the governor’s office and helps coordinate administrative responsibilities, while Oyebode handles press relations and public communication on behalf of the governor and his administration.
Their retention comes days after Oyebanji dissolved the State Executive Council on October 12 as his first term drew to a close. The move formed part of the transition into a new administration following his re-election.
The dissolution affected members of the cabinet, including commissioners, while the latest reappointments confirm the governor’s decision to retain the three officials in their existing roles.
Oyebanji was sworn in for a second term on Friday, October 16, after securing victory in the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.
His re-election extended his leadership of the South-West state, where his administration has pursued its development agenda across governance and public services.
The retention of the SSG, Chief of Staff and Chief Press Secretary provides continuity in the governor’s immediate working team as the new administration gets underway.
The three officials are expected to continue their respective responsibilities as the government moves into its second term, while further decisions on cabinet composition and other appointments will determine the broader structure of the administration in the coming weeks.
