Fatai Okoya, a man who identifies himself as the first son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has appealed to his father for forgiveness and reconciliation after more than four decades of estrangement.
In an open letter circulated online, Fatai apologised for their troubled relationship, saying the years spent apart had brought pain and left them with time they could never recover.
“Dad, I am truly sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me,” he wrote, urging the Eleganza Group founder to give their relationship another chance.
Fatai said he had made several attempts over the years to reach his father and settle their differences but had struggled to restore their relationship.
He expressed regret over the lost years, saying he did not want the separation to continue when there was still an opportunity for them to reconnect.
“No matter what has happened, you remain my father, and I will forever be your first child,” he wrote.
He also appealed to the businessman to look beyond their past disagreements and allow them to rebuild their bond.
“Dad, we cannot turn back the hands of time, but we can choose to make the years ahead different,” he said, adding that he was prepared to approach reconciliation with humility and sincerity.
In a subsequent TikTok Live session with blogger Yeye Kudi Courtroom, Fatai spoke about the circumstances he believes contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.
He said his father had opposed his first marriage, but he went ahead with it despite the disagreement.
“My daddy held on to one thing: he did not want me to marry the first woman I married, but I did not listen to him,” he said, according to TheCable Lifestyle.
Fatai also said he had tried to contact his father through friends and intermediaries but was often unable to get close to him.
His public appeal has drawn attention to the prolonged separation, although the circumstances surrounding the family dispute have not been independently established in full.
Who is Razaq Okoya?
Razaq Okoya is a Nigerian billionaire businessman and the founder of Eleganza Group, a manufacturing conglomerate known for producing household and consumer goods.
He began his business career in trading before expanding into manufacturing and building one of Nigeria’s prominent privately owned business groups.
The industrialist has a large family. In an interview in February 2026, one of his sons, Raheem Okoya, popularly known as Siraheem, said his father had 26 children with nine women.
Fatai, however, has publicly identified himself as Okoya’s first child, a claim that has not been independently verified.
