Portsmouth cleaning business founder earns MSc in public health with merit, targets higher industry standards

Portsmouth, United Kingdom | October 2026

A Portsmouth-based entrepreneur, Abayomi Moses Sodiya, has graduated from the University of Suffolk with a Master of Science (MSc) in Public Health, earning a Merit and setting his sights on raising professional standards in the cleaning and environmental hygiene industry.

Sodiya, founder of Jetdore Services Limited, a UK cleaning and laundry services company, completed the postgraduate qualification while managing his business and balancing professional and family responsibilities.

His academic achievement reflects his ambition to connect public health knowledge with the practical delivery of cleaning services, particularly in areas such as infection prevention, environmental hygiene and responsible cleaning practices.

Rather than viewing cleaning solely as a means of maintaining appearances, Sodiya believes the industry has an important role to play in protecting health and creating safer environments.

Sodiya’s interests include infection prevention and control, environmental microbiology, and the relationship between microorganisms and their surroundings.

He hopes to apply his growing knowledge of these areas to support more evidence-based cleaning practices, improved staff training and stronger professional standards within the industry.

Through Jetdore Services Limited, he aims to promote cleaning methods informed by scientific understanding, continuous professional development and environmental responsibility.

The vision reflects his belief that cleaning services can contribute to public health protection when delivered with appropriate knowledge, methods and professional care.

PhD ambition follows master’s degree

Looking beyond his MSc, Sodiya hopes to pursue a PhD focusing on infection prevention, environmental microbiology, microbial contamination and the effects microorganisms can have on human health and the environment.

His long-term goal is to connect scientific research with practical cleaning operations, helping to strengthen professional education, encourage innovation and improve awareness of the relationship between environmental hygiene and public health.

As described by Sodiya, the qualification is not simply a personal academic milestone but part of a broader effort to develop a business informed by research, professional learning and public health principles.

He hopes his work will demonstrate how entrepreneurship and further education can complement each other in efforts to promote cleaner, safer and healthier environments.
