Binance has warned its customers to avoid transactions involving 17 cryptocurrency platforms after introducing new restrictions linked to regulatory developments.
The affected businesses operate across several jurisdictions, including Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates and Iran.
Binance said it would no longer process transactions involving the listed entities once the relevant restrictions became effective.
The measures have been introduced in stages.
For Nigerian users, the affected businesses include A7 Nigeria, A7 Africa and PilotFinance, with restrictions on transactions involving them beginning on August 13.
Earlier restrictions were imposed on Shelbit General Trading LLC and Aban Tether Exchange from August 7.
Binance has also identified additional platforms that are subject to restrictions under later phases of the programme.
Customers have been told not to send or receive funds through Binance in connection with the affected businesses.
The exchange said attempts to conduct such transactions could result in funds being held while compliance checks are carried out.
Users could also face restrictions involving their wallets if activity is found to be connected to prohibited platforms.
Binance’s action comes against the background of a broader effort by regulators to impose stricter controls on cryptocurrency businesses.
Digital-asset companies have increasingly come under scrutiny over customer identification, financial crime controls and sanctions compliance.
The measures also highlight the difficulties global cryptocurrency exchanges face when operating across countries with different regulatory systems.
For Binance, maintaining access to major markets requires compliance with changing rules and restrictions imposed by governments and financial authorities.
The company has not said that cryptocurrency trading generally is being suspended in Nigeria, the UAE or Iran.
Instead, the restrictions apply to specific platforms identified in its compliance notice.
