Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Yari’s appointment was contained in the campaign council list released on Saturday, as the ruling party begins preparations for what is expected to be a major electoral contest.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as vice chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has been appointed secretary of the campaign council, while APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.

The council also includes several prominent political figures who have been assigned responsibilities across different directorates.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will serve as deputy director-generals for the southern and northern zones.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation, while James Faleke has been appointed deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, will work with zonal directors across the six geopolitical zones.

The campaign council also has dedicated directorates for legal affairs, media and strategic communications, with several senior party members appointed to coordinate the various departments.

President Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to deliver victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.

He urged the campaign team to showcase the achievements of his administration, reach out to other party members and build a united campaign capable of securing support across the country.
