FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has intensified his campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, saying the 2027 contest occupies his thoughts even during his daily routines.

Wike spoke on Monday while addressing town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he urged residents to support Tinubu at the 2027 presidential election.

The former Rivers State governor argued that Tinubu’s administration had recognised the state through federal appointments and development projects, urging voters to put political sentiments aside when deciding whom to support.

Wike declared that Tinubu’s return to office in 2027 would be easier to achieve than his victory in the 2023 presidential election.

He also urged Rivers residents to deliver a strong vote for the president, maintaining that the state had benefited from Tinubu’s administration.

Turning to the opposition, Wike questioned the prospects of the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State and criticised politicians associated with the party, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi.

He argued that the ADC would struggle to meet the constitutional requirement of securing at least 25 per cent of votes in Rivers State.

Wike also dismissed the electoral prospects of Peter Obi and other opposition figures, describing them as “unelectable”.

The FCT minister further appealed to his supporters and political allies to avoid internal disagreements and communal disputes that could undermine their preparations for the 2027 election.
