An Ekiti State mini-truck driver, Adeleye Adeniyi, has disclosed that he borrowed ₦3.5 million to support the re-election campaigns of President Bola Tinubu, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Ekiti State House of Assembly member Steve Fatoba ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeniyi, popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO”, made the disclosure in a video interview with journalists circulating on Friday.
He displayed a cardboard cheque bearing the Wema Bank name, showing how the money would be allocated among the three politicians. The breakdown indicated ₦2 million for Tinubu, ₦1 million for Bamidele and ₦500,000 for Fatoba.
The driver said his decision to borrow the money was motivated by his belief that the politicians had performed well in office and deserved another opportunity to serve.
“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” Adeniyi said.
He also pledged to participate actively in the campaign ahead of the elections, saying he was prepared to mobilise support for the President.
Adeniyi urged Nigerians to vote for Tinubu for a second term, expressing confidence that the President would deliver more benefits if re-elected.
“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he said.
Driver Praises Bamidele, Oyebanji
Beyond his support for Tinubu, Adeniyi praised Bamidele and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, citing what he described as their contributions to development in the state.
He mentioned healthcare, education, electricity and rural infrastructure among the areas where he believed the politicians had made positive contributions.
Speaking directly to Bamidele, the driver said the senator’s support for development projects had strengthened his confidence in the lawmaker’s leadership.
“Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on, you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.
Adeniyi also called on Nigerians to support the politicians at the polls, arguing that their return to office would provide an opportunity for further development.
His pledge comes as political activities begin to build ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants and their supporters preparing to mobilise voters.
Not His First Loan-Funded Political Campaign
The latest disclosure is not the first time Adeniyi has attracted attention for using borrowed money to demonstrate his support for a politician in Ekiti State.
In February 2026, he reportedly borrowed money through the digital lending platform OPay to brand a vehicle in support of Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
The move drew attention because of his willingness to take on debt to promote a political cause he believed in.
Adeniyi, who operates his mini-truck around the BAO Timber Market along Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti, had said his earlier decision was driven by his admiration for the governor’s administration.
He has also praised Tinubu and Oyebanji over policies and programmes relating to education, healthcare and citizens’ welfare.
