Zamfara State is mourning the death of the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Bello Sulaiman, following the traditional ruler’s passing at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.

Sulaiman died on Monday afternoon at the medical facility in the Zamfara State capital.

Governor Dauda Lawal reacted to the development on Tuesday, expressing deep sorrow over the death of the Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi.

In his condolence message, Lawal described the Emir’s death as a profound loss to the Zurmi Emirate and the wider traditional institution in Zamfara.

The governor also said the late monarch’s passing was a loss to his family and the people of the state.

Lawal paid tribute to Sulaiman’s years of service, saying the late Emir would be remembered for his contributions to the traditional institution and his commitment to peace and progress in Zamfara.

Sulaiman ascended the throne in 2021 and had spent approximately five years as Emir of Zurmi before his death.

He succeeded Abubakar Atiku, who was his uncle and predecessor.

The governor extended his condolences to members of the late Emir’s family, the Zurmi Emirate Council and residents of the emirate.

Lawal also offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

He further prayed that the family and people of Zurmi would be given the strength to cope with what he described as an irreparable loss.
