Banks across Nigeria will close their doors on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as the Federal Government has declared the day a public holiday to mark Eid ul Mawlid.
The announcement came from the Ministry of Interior, through a statement signed by Permanent Secretary Dr Magdalene Ajani on behalf of Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Nigerians can still access banking services during the closure via ATMs, mobile apps, and other digital platforms, all of which will remain active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to Muslims within Nigeria and abroad, calling on all citizens to reflect on the compassion, humility, and service that define the celebration. He urged Nigerians to use the period for prayers of peace and unity, and to mark the day with mutual respect.
