Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has selected the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umar, as the Amirul Hajj for the state’s 2027 pilgrimage.
The governor announced the appointment in Kano, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Mr Yusuf said the decision was influenced by the arrangement for the previous Hajj, when the Emir of Gaya, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, led the Kano delegation.
The Emir of Rano will now take responsibility for leading the state’s pilgrims during the 2027 Hajj.
The announcement was made at the Rano Emirate, where the governor attended the wedding and turbaning of the emir’s first son, Muhammad Abubakar Isa.
The emir and members of the emirate expressed their appreciation to Governor Yusuf following the announcement.
The appointment is expected to form part of Kano State’s preparations for the next Hajj season as authorities begin planning for the movement of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
