MACBAN Calls for Investigation After Five Fulani Herders Are Killed in Plateau

The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has called for an investigation after five Fulani men were reportedly killed in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The victims were reportedly travelling towards a cattle market in Jos South when their vehicle came under attack.

According to reports from Zagazola Makama, the incident happened close to a security checkpoint along the route.

The attackers allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, killing the five occupants.

MACBAN later identified the deceased as Buhari Yusuf, Aminu Ahmad, Nasiru Abdullahi, Gambo Abubakar and Muhammad Abdul Rahman.

In a statement, the association condemned the killings and urged security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

MACBAN also called on the federal and Plateau State governments to take measures to improve security around Kassa and other areas it considers vulnerable.

The association said the victims were travelling for business when they were allegedly ambushed.

The incident has generated concern because it occurred in an area that has experienced previous attacks involving different communities.

According to TheCable, MACBAN said the Kassa axis had recorded similar incidents involving Fulani herders and cattle traders in the past.

The association also urged members of the Fulani community to remain calm and avoid retaliatory attacks.
