Oke-Afa Bridge Repairs: Lagos Sets Three-Week Traffic Diversion

Lagos has released details of alternative traffic arrangements as rehabilitation works begin on Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo.

The state government said the bridge would be temporarily closed to vehicular movement for three weeks, from August 28 to September 18, 2026.

Rather than shutting the corridor completely for the entire period, traffic will be managed through phased diversions and contraflow arrangements.  

For the first phase, running from August 28 to September 11, vehicles travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted at Pako Roundabout onto the Isolo-bound carriageway.

Traffic in both directions will use the available section before reconnecting with the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.

Motorists coming from Ejigbo towards Isolo will retain access to the route but will share the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound traffic.

The arrangement will change on September 12 when the second phase begins.

Vehicles travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will then be diverted at Mobil Filling Station onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway.

Traffic will continue in both directions before reconnecting with the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.  

LASTMA officials will be deployed to coordinate movement and help minimise congestion.

The government has also arranged for an emergency tow vehicle to remain within the area throughout the rehabilitation.

Lagos authorities urged motorists to exercise patience, obey traffic officials and make appropriate plans before travelling through the Oke-Afa-Isolo corridor.

The rehabilitation is part of works being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works through the Office of the Federal Controller in Lagos, with Strabic Construction Limited responsible for the construction work.
