Harry Kane moved within one match of equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League scoring record after netting for Bayern Munich in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday night.
The England captain converted a second-half penalty at the Allianz Arena to extend his scoring streak in Europe’s premier club competition to 10 consecutive appearances, becoming only the second player to reach the milestone.
Kane’s latest achievement came in a closely contested encounter in which Bayern twice took the lead but were unable to secure all three points against the Premier League side.
Arsenal went ahead through Eberechi Eze in the 25th minute before Kane helped Bayern respond, providing the assist for Alphonso Davies’ equaliser 10 minutes later.
The 33-year-old then put the German champions ahead from the penalty spot in the 61st minute. Declan Rice restored parity for Arsenal eight minutes from time, leaving both teams with a point.
Across his 10 consecutive Champions League scoring appearances, Kane has recorded 13 goals and four assists, underlining his growing influence in the competition.
Kane’s run has taken him beyond the nine consecutive Champions League appearances in which Ruud van Nistelrooy scored for Manchester United in 2002-03 and Robert Lewandowski achieved during separate spells with Bayern Munich in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Only Ronaldo has managed a longer scoring streak, finding the net in 11 successive appearances for Real Madrid between 2017 and 2018.
Kane will have the chance to match the Portuguese forward’s record when Bayern travel to face Atletico Madrid in their next Champions League fixture.
Another goal would place the Bayern striker alongside Ronaldo at the top of the competition’s consecutive-appearance scoring chart, while another would give him the outright record.
The milestone adds to Kane’s case for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with the award ceremony scheduled for October 26 in London.
The Bayern forward enjoyed the most prolific season of his career in 2025-26, scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions for the German club.
His performances helped Bayern secure domestic silverware, while his contribution for England at the 2026 World Cup further strengthened his individual credentials.
Kane faces competition from Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, whose role in Spain’s World Cup triumph has strengthened his position among the leading contenders. Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe is also in contention after an outstanding individual campaign.
Kane’s Champions League form offers another measure of his impact at the highest level, although Bayern’s draw against Arsenal means his latest personal milestone did not translate into a victory.
His next opportunity to move level with Ronaldo comes against Atletico Madrid, with the record now just one scoring appearance away.
