The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a suspected high-tech indoor cannabis farm at a residential property in the Apapa area of the state, arresting two men in connection with the discovery.
Suspects were identified as Thomas Razvickas, a 49-year-old Polish national, and James Chisome, a 36-year-old Nigerian.
The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the facility was discovered on November 2 following intelligence received by police operatives.
She said officers searched the premises and found a sophisticated indoor farming facility equipped for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of substances suspected to be cannabis.
Both suspects, who reportedly reside at the property, are currently in police custody.
They have allegedly made confessional statements and are providing information to assist the ongoing investigation.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, visited the scene to inspect the facility, assess its operations and receive updates on the investigation.
Fatai commended the operatives for their intelligence-led operation and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling drug-related offences and dismantling criminal networks across the state.
He also urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies, assuring them that the police would sustain efforts to rid Lagos of criminal activities.
Police said investigations into the discovery were ongoing, as authorities work to establish the full extent of the operation and determine whether other individuals were connected to the suspected cannabis cultivation network.
