Adeleke’s Villa Visit: Wike Says No Strong Opposition, Hints at Tinubu’s 2027 ‘Rainbow Coalition’

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said Nigeria currently has no strong opposition, while predicting the emergence of a larger political coalition around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike made the remarks in a video shared on X by Lere Olayinka, his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media.

The minister was asked about a possible opposition alliance led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke potentially joining their side.

Wike responded by questioning the strength of the opposition and said Nigerians should expect a larger “national rainbow coalition” for Tinubu.

The comments came after Adeleke visited the Presidential Villa to present his Certificate of Return to Tinubu following his victory in the Osun governorship election.

Tinubu congratulated Adeleke and urged him to use his second term to promote reconciliation, peace, unity and inclusive governance.

With political negotiations and alliance-building expected to intensify ahead of 2027, Wike’s comments are likely to fuel further debate over the emerging balance of power between the ruling party and the opposition.
