Josko Gvardiol scored in the 91st minute as Manchester City completed a dramatic 2-1 comeback against Bournemouth to begin the Enzo Maresca era with victory.

Bournemouth had looked capable of producing an early-season shock after taking the lead and keeping City at bay for much of the match.

The home side spent long periods trying to find a way through, but Bournemouth remained organised and continued to protect their advantage.

With time running out, City finally broke through in the 84th minute when Marc Guéhi scored to make it 1-1.

The equaliser gave City fresh momentum and changed the complexion of the match.

Instead of settling for a draw, the hosts pushed for a second goal and continued to put Bournemouth under pressure.

Their efforts were rewarded dramatically in the 91st minute when Gvardiol found the back of the net to put Manchester City ahead.

Bournemouth were unable to recover from the late blow, allowing City to complete a 2-1 victory.

The comeback means Maresca begins his Manchester City reign with three points, while Bournemouth will be left to reflect on a match they had been minutes away from winning.
