PFIPC Scandal Deepens as ICPC Discovers Another Fake Government Office

The controversy surrounding the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has taken another turn following the discovery of a separate organisation operating from a federal government compound.

The ICPC said it uncovered the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, which it described as an illegal organisation.

The body was reportedly allocated office space within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, giving it access to a location associated with Nigeria’s federal administration.

The discovery comes after investigators previously uncovered two other fictitious agencies allegedly linked to Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC. Those agencies were identified as the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public Private Partnership.

The expanding investigation has now placed greater attention on the procedures through which organisations gain recognition, office space and access to government institutions.

The Federal Executive Council has also ordered a forensic investigation into the PFIPC scandal and the institutional weaknesses that may have allowed alleged fake agencies to operate.
