Shettima: Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Key to Nigeria’s Unity, Prosperity

ABUJA — Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called on Northern stakeholders in the creative industry to back President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027, describing the president’s return as important to Nigeria’s unity and continued implementation of his administration’s agenda.

Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the Triple-R for Renewed Hope group at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office.

The vice-president said Northern Nigeria had a stake in the administration’s policies for the creative economy, arguing that continued support for Tinubu would help sustain initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for artists, filmmakers and musicians.

He said the government was pursuing measures intended to empower local talent, preserve cultural heritage and expand economic opportunities through the creative sector.

Shettima also urged the group to remain committed to the administration and the APC, saying the benefits of its reforms would become more visible across different sectors in the coming months and years.

The campaign for Tinubu’s second term was also backed by other APC figures at the meeting.

Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, said the president’s 2027 re-election should be considered against the administration’s record and achievements. He also rejected claims by political opponents that the North had been sidelined in federal appointments and projects.

Former Katsina governor and APC campaign council official Aminu Bello Masari similarly urged Northern creative professionals to take advantage of opportunities created by the government’s policies.

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje called for justice, fairness and inclusiveness while encouraging support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The Northern creatives’ group, Triple-R for Renewed Hope, subsequently pledged its support for Tinubu and APC candidates across the North in the 2027 elections.

Its president, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, said Northern professionals in the film industry were united behind the party’s candidates, while also asking the Federal Government for greater investment in creative-industry infrastructure and support for professionals in the region.

The latest mobilisation adds to the growing political activity around the 2027 presidential election, with the Tinubu administration and its supporters increasingly using policy achievements and regional support as key themes in their campaign for a second term.
