ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze following fresh findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The President also directed the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries as investigations intensify into alleged irregularities within the Federal Government.
The affected officials are M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The development followed an investigation by the ICPC, which reportedly uncovered an allegedly unauthorised government office operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The office, identified as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, has come under scrutiny following the commission’s findings.
According to reports surrounding the investigation, Nwabueze was identified as the promoter of the office, while investigators also uncovered suspected links involving individuals within the OSGF.
Following the findings, President Tinubu ordered relevant authorities to take immediate action, including the arrest of Nwabueze and the suspension of the three permanent secretaries pending further investigation.
The latest development comes amid increased scrutiny of activities within government ministries, departments and agencies, with authorities seeking to identify and address alleged unauthorised structures and other irregularities within the public service.
The ICPC is expected to continue its investigation, while further details on the allegations and the roles of the individuals involved are expected to emerge as the process progresses.
