Otunba ‘Dare Odufowokan, a senior aide to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, marked his 50th birthday with a double traditional honour in Remoland.

Odufowokan, who serves as the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, was installed into two chieftaincy positions during separate ceremonies held in the area on Thursday.

The first ceremony took place in Iraye Remo, where the Nloku of Iraye Remo, Oba Adimula Afolabi Ogunlaja, installed him as the Mayegun of Iraye Remo.

Later in the day, the Eleposo of Eposo Remo, Oba Mukaila Akanji Olabinjo, conferred on him the title of Otunba Onigegewura of Eposo Remo.

The two ceremonies brought together traditional rulers, government officials, political figures, business leaders, community representatives and associates of the celebrant.

The appointments were presented as recognition of Odufowokan’s involvement in community affairs, youth-related initiatives and activities considered beneficial to the development of Remoland.

At the Iraye palace, Oba Ogunlaja spoke positively about the celebrant’s relationship with the community and his support for the traditional institution.

The monarch said Odufowokan had demonstrated a willingness to contribute to matters affecting the people and had remained supportive during difficult periods.

The second ceremony at Eposo provided another opportunity for community leaders to recognise Odufowokan’s association with the area.

Oba Olabinjo said the new Otunba had contributed to activities connected with the progress of Eposo and the wider Remo area.

For Odufowokan, the ceremonies added a significant dimension to his golden jubilee celebrations.

He expressed appreciation for the recognition and said he regarded the titles not simply as honours but as responsibilities that would require continued service.

The governor’s aide pledged to use his new positions to encourage peaceful relations, cooperation and development within Remoland and Ogun State.

The birthday celebrations also featured prayers, cultural presentations, a reception and thanksgiving.

The ceremonies provided an opportunity for members of the traditional institution, government and the wider community to celebrate Odufowokan’s personal milestone while welcoming him into new traditional responsibilities.
