Desmond Elliot Kneels, Prostrates Before Gbajabiamila, Seeks Reconciliation

A fresh video showing Desmond Elliot seeking forgiveness from Femi Gbajabiamila has drawn attention to the political relationship between the two Lagos politicians.

The Lagos State House of Assembly member is seen kneeling before Gbajabiamila before also prostrating, in an apparent effort to settle differences that have strained their relationship.

Elliot used the occasion to express regret over his recent political actions, acknowledging that he had no justification for whatever offence may have caused the disagreement.

The lawmaker also suggested that some of his decisions during the last APC primary election may have been influenced by poor judgement.

The gesture represents another attempt by Elliot to rebuild ties with Gbajabiamila, one of the most influential figures in Lagos APC politics.

Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, currently serves as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Elliot has previously acknowledged the former Speaker’s influence on his political career and has referred to him as his political mentor.

The latest development follows an earlier public apology by Elliot in May, when he appealed to Gbajabiamila during a television appearance and expressed regret over any offence he may have caused.

The renewed reconciliation effort comes against the background of political disagreements that became particularly visible during the crisis surrounding the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership.

The dispute followed the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker in January 2025 and the emergence of Mojisola Meranda.

Obasa eventually returned to the speakership after a period of intense political manoeuvring involving several senior figures within the ruling party.

Elliot’s name was also mentioned in reports and political allegations surrounding the episode. He has previously rejected suggestions that he masterminded or played the role attributed to him in some of the developments.

The latest video does not revisit all the disputed claims. Instead, Elliot appears focused on repairing his relationship with Gbajabiamila.

During the meeting, Gbajabiamila was seen asking Elliot to rise after the lawmaker’s apology.

Elliot also reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to the APC leadership in Lagos, signalling an apparent desire to move beyond the disagreements.

The public nature of the gesture has generated considerable interest because of the longstanding political connection between both men.

It also comes at a period when political alignments are increasingly receiving attention ahead of the 2027 elections.

Whether the apology will lead to a complete restoration of their political relationship remains to be seen.
