FRSC Denies Giving Gombe Lawmaker 50 Recruitment Slots

The Federal Road Safety Corps has rejected a social media report alleging that 50 positions in its ongoing recruitment exercise were reserved for constituents of a Gombe federal lawmaker.

The claim involved Ali Isah, member representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

FRSC Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri said the report did not reflect the position of the Corps.

The agency said no appointment letter had been issued to any candidate under the 2026 recruitment exercise.

It explained that candidates who successfully completed screening and interview stages have only been invited to training schools and the FRSC Academy for further stages.

The Corps said applicants must still complete prescribed training, screening, regimentation and other mandatory requirements.

Formal appointment will only be considered after the candidates have successfully completed the process and have no disqualifying record.

The FRSC also rejected the suggestion that recruitment positions could be allocated by politicians.

It said political office holders, individuals, groups and other external interests do not have authority to confer appointments outside the official recruitment framework.

The agency said the recruitment process remains based on merit, transparency and due process.

The Corps urged applicants and members of the public to disregard unverified reports about recruitment slots.

It warned that false claims could mislead job seekers and expose them to fraudulent offers.

The agency said people offering FRSC jobs in exchange for money or political connections should not be trusted.

It urged applicants to obtain information only through authorised FRSC communication channels.

The report has also prompted political reactions in Gombe, including calls for investigation into how the claim originated.

But the FRSC maintained that the immediate issue was the inaccurate portrayal of the status of its recruitment process.

No candidate, it said, should regard themselves as appointed until all stages have been concluded and formal appointment communicated.
