Four Kebbi Executive Bills Become Law as Assembly Adopts Committee Reports

Four executive bills have been passed into law by the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

The bills were passed after lawmakers considered and adopted reports submitted by the relevant committees of the Assembly.

The latest development followed a wider legislative process involving executive bills forwarded to the House by Governor Nasir Idris.

In August, the Assembly received 11 executive bills from the governor for scrutiny and possible passage. The proposals were targeted at several sectors of state administration.

The areas covered by the proposed legislation included land administration, public procurement, tertiary education, criminal law, solid minerals development, taxation, scholarships and administration of justice.

The legislative package included proposed amendments to the law establishing or governing the Kebbi State Geographic Information Services Agency and the Price Intelligence and Public Procurement Bureau.

Bills affecting tertiary institutions in the state were also among those transmitted to the Assembly.

Other proposals addressed the state Penal Code, solid minerals development, taxation, scholarships and the administration of criminal justice.

The relevant House committees examined the proposals and submitted their reports for consideration.

The Assembly subsequently considered and adopted the reports, leading to the passage of four executive bills into law.

The action represents the latest outcome of the legislative consideration of the executive-sponsored bills in Kebbi State.

The remaining executive proposals are separate from the four bills already passed and remain subject to the Assembly’s legislative process.
