Manchester City have rewritten the record books after spending €526.2m during the 2026/27 summer transfer window.
The figure makes City the biggest spenders ever recorded in a single transfer window, according to Transfermarkt.
They surpassed Liverpool’s €483m record from the 2025/26 summer window.
City also became the first club to cross €500m in gross transfer spending during one window.
The record was established after the club completed two major deadline-day deals.
Iliman Ndiaye joined from Everton for €70m, while Enzo Fernández arrived from Chelsea for €145m.
The Fernández deal equalled the British transfer record.
Those deals took City’s spending beyond the previous benchmark and brought the final total to €526.2m.
City had already invested heavily in their squad before deadline day.
Their summer recruitment included Elliot Anderson for €135m and Ayyoub Bouaddi for €95m.
The club’s gross spending was partly offset by significant income from player departures.
Transfermarkt reported €337m in player sales for City during the same window.
As a result, their net spending stood at €189m.
The difference is important because the €526.2m figure represents the total cost of incoming transfers, while the €189m figure reflects the balance after sales.
Manchester City now lead a ranking dominated by major Premier League clubs.
Liverpool are second with €483m spent during the 2025/26 summer window.
Chelsea occupy third place with €418m from the 2023/24 window.
Chelsea are also fourth after spending €407m in the 2026/27 window.
Tottenham Hotspur follow with €366m, while Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal spent €353m.
Paris Saint-Germain are seventh with €350m, followed by Real Madrid at €331m.
Chelsea’s €330m expenditure in the 2022/23 window is ninth, with Newcastle United completing the list at €301m.
The latest ranking highlights the enormous transfer investment made by English clubs.
Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle all feature among the 10 biggest single-window spenders.
Liverpool’s previous record was set after the club spent heavily on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
Wirtz cost €125m, while Isak joined for €145m.
City have now moved beyond Liverpool’s total by more than €40m.
The new record means the 2026/27 summer window has produced the largest single-window spending figure in the Transfermarkt ranking.
City’s total is also the first to exceed €500m.
The club’s record expenditure comes despite the €337m generated through player sales.
Manchester City’s final net spend of €189m therefore represents a substantially smaller figure than the gross €526.2m transfer bill.
The figures demonstrate the scale of City’s recruitment during the summer while also showing the impact of player sales on the club’s overall transfer balance.
Manchester City now hold the all-time single-window spending record ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
