Plateau Abduction: Military Launches Search as Gunmen Flee With Victim

JOS — Security forces have launched a search operation following the abduction of a man by suspected gunmen in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Troops of Sector 3, Operation ENDURING PEACE, commenced the search after receiving information concerning the kidnapping.

The military’s response forms part of ongoing operations aimed at disrupting criminal activity and preventing armed groups from operating freely across Plateau State.

The Joint Task Force has intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations in several parts of the state.

In a separate development, troops operating in Kanam LGA rescued another kidnapped victim after encountering suspected terrorists during a patrol.

The suspects reportedly fled after troops pursued them, abandoning the victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi.

In Bassa, troops also successfully rescued Ndubuisi Onuigbo following the search operation launched after his abduction.

The military said both victims were debriefed and reunited with their families.

The commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their actions and urged residents to maintain vigilance.

He also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could help security agencies respond quickly to criminal activities.

The military has continued to describe community cooperation as an important part of its efforts to restore lasting peace in the state.
