Shettima Leaves Abuja for Luanda as African Leaders Meet on Conflict Resolution

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Luanda, Angola, ahead of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the high-level meeting, which is focused on conflict prevention and resolution and the promotion of peace and stability in Africa.

The summit is expected to bring together African leaders and other stakeholders to examine challenges affecting peace and security across the continent.

Shettima will represent Nigeria at the meeting and deliver an address on behalf of President Tinubu.

Through the address, Nigeria will present its position on the issues before the summit as African leaders consider approaches to preventing and resolving conflicts.

The Vice President is accompanied by senior defence and security officials on the trip to Angola.

His participation forms part of Nigeria’s continued involvement in continental discussions on peace, security and conflict resolution.

The African Union meeting is taking place in Luanda, the capital of Angola.

Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria after completing his engagements at the summit.

Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s media aide, announced Shettima’s departure and outlined his role at the meeting.
