Uba Sani Commissions Zango, Panteka Roads in Kaduna South

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has commissioned a number of reconstructed roads in Kaduna South Local Government Area as part of an infrastructure programme aimed at improving connectivity and commercial activity.

The projects were commissioned on September 2 and include the reconstructed Zango Road and roads serving the Old Panteka area.

The governor also commissioned an Old Panteka Market Clinic and an ICT centre during the programme.

The Kaduna South Local Government said the Zango Road project had resolved a long-standing infrastructure problem after residents reportedly waited about 15 years for reconstruction.

The road is particularly important because of its links to commercial and transport corridors.

Officials said it connects three major constituencies and links the city’s major livestock market with the Central Market and Eastern Bypass.

The project is expected to benefit traders and transporters involved in the movement of livestock, animal feed and agricultural goods.

The local government said the improved road would reduce travel times and operational costs while improving access to commercial destinations.

The governor’s intervention also covers the Panteka commercial district.

The roads around the market connect the area to neighbouring communities and major routes.

Panteka is one of Kaduna’s major centres for traditional craftsmanship and technical training.

Governor Sani said more than 38,000 apprentices receive technical and vocational training at Old Panteka.

He said the infrastructure projects were designed not merely as construction works but as investments intended to create conditions for residents and businesses to grow.

According to the governor, the reconstructed roads will facilitate the movement of people and goods, expand commercial activity and enhance public safety.

Drainage improvements are also part of the projects.

The administration said the drainage infrastructure would help address flooding, while solar-powered streetlights would improve safety and visibility.

The Old Panteka Market Clinic represents another element of the programme.

The facility is expected to bring healthcare closer to traders, apprentices and residents who work and live around the market.

The ICT centre is intended to create a connection between traditional vocational skills and opportunities associated with the digital economy.

The Kaduna South Local Government has presented the projects as interventions aimed at unlocking economic potential at community level.

The council’s chairman, Rayyan Hussain, said the completion of the Zango Road had transformed access around the livestock market and connected communities with healthcare and commercial facilities.

The projects are part of a larger infrastructure programme in the state.

Other roads commissioned during the Kaduna South ceremony include Malam Madori, Enugu and Lemu roads.

The completion of the projects now places emphasis on maintenance.

For residents, traders and transporters, the expectation is that the new roads will remain accessible and continue to reduce the transport difficulties that affected movement before reconstruction.

The government will also be under pressure to ensure that drainage systems remain functional and that the new streetlights are maintained.
