The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released its weather outlook for Nigeria covering Monday, August 31, to Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The forecast indicates a combination of partly cloudy skies, cloudy conditions, sunshine, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across different parts of the country.
On Monday, northern areas including parts of Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba could experience isolated thunderstorms and moderate rain in the morning.
The North-West and parts of Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba are expected to record thunderstorms and moderate rain later in the day.
In the North-Central, morning rain is expected over parts of the FCT, Nasarawa, Benue and Niger, followed by thunderstorms and moderate rain over most parts of the region.
Southern states are also expected to experience rainfall, with moderate morning rain forecast over parts of Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and the South-West.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, NiMet expects further rainfall and thunderstorms across parts of the North, North-Central and South.
NiMet advised residents to remain alert during thunderstorms, avoid driving under heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances from sockets and stay away from tall trees.
