Mussa, Lassa Abductions: Troops Launch Adamawa Offensive, Kill Over 21 Terrorists

Nigerian troops have killed more than 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during an operation in Adamawa State linked to ongoing efforts to locate and rescue abducted persons.

The offensive took place in the Kopre Mountain general area of Hong Local Government Area in the early hours of August 27, 2026.

The operation involved the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion.

According to Operation HADIN KAI, the troops acted on credible intelligence and conducted a stealth insertion into the terrorists’ enclave despite the difficult terrain.

After reaching the camp, the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters.

The military said more than 21 terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The troops subsequently dominated the area, dismantled the entire terrorist camp and destroyed its associated logistics infrastructure.

The operation was part of efforts to locate and rescue people abducted by terrorist elements, including victims from Mussa community who were abducted in May and Lassa schoolchildren abducted in June.

Several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit were also destroyed.

The troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
